Instant Wyndham Rewards Gold membership upgrades remain available with the extended #EverydayHeroes campaign
SINGAPORE (4 November 2020) – Essential workers across the globe are getting something special in their email inbox. The world’s largest hotel franchising company with over 9,000 hotels across approximately 90 countries, is surprising over 45,000 workers on the frontlines of the pandemic with 7,500 Wyndham Rewards® points – enough for a complimentary one-night stay at thousands of Hotels by Wyndham.
This latest initiative under Wyndham’s ongoing #EverydayHeroes campaign will see Wyndham Rewards® points sent to any health care worker, delivery driver, warehouse worker, grocery associate and hotel staff or other essential worker who had previously opted into the campaign at www.wyndhamrewards.com/heroes prior to 11:59 p.m. ET on October 27, 2020.
"Throughout this pandemic, it’s our essential frontline workers who have helped keep us all safe and countries running,” said Geoff Ballotti, President and CEO of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “We want to honor their hard work and continued sacrifice. Whether it’s with a quick overnight getaway or a week-long escape, our hope is that these points, combined with the added perks of Wyndham Rewards Gold membership will help to make their next trip not only more attainable, but more enjoyable too. They’ve earned it.”
“Across Asia Pacific, Wyndham Rewards will be awarding approximately 10 million reward points along with an upgrade to the Gold membership under the #EverydayHeroes campaign. Through the extension of the additional Wyndham Rewards® points, we hope to bring encouragement and cheer to these workers by offering a well-deserved retreat at a Wyndham property of their choice, be it for a stay close to home, or a holiday when the world opens up to travel again. We also look forward to providing them a safe and clean stay enhanced by Wyndham’s Count on Us campaign, as well as extending a warm and welcoming Wyndham experience at our hotels,” said Joon Aun Ooi, President, Asia Pacific, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts.
Wyndham launched its #EverydayHeroes campaign this April as a way to recognize and say thank you to those on the frontlines of the pandemic—many of whom continue to travel as a necessary function of their job. Through the campaign, eligible workers are able to receive a complimentary instant upgrade to Wyndham Rewards Gold membership, which comes with added perks such as late checkouts, a preferred room and accelerated earning.
In June, Wyndham also recognised a group of midwives in New Zealand as #EverydayHeroes for their role in delivering eight healthy babies at the Ramada Suites by Wyndham Remarkables Park Queenstown. During the nation-wide lockdown and the closure of the local hospital’s maternity ward due to a COVID-19 case, these quick-thinking midwives contacted the hotel and converted one of the hotel’s suites into a temporary delivery room so that expectant mothers could give birth with peace of mind. To thank them for their contributions, the hotel reunited the midwives with the happy families upon the lifting of the lockdown, and gifted them Wyndham Rewards points as well as a complimentary upgrade to Wyndham Rewards’ Gold membership tier for their future travels.
Wyndham Reward points are being distributed via email and must be claimed by November 18, 2020. Once claimed, recipients will have 18 months to redeem the 7,500 Wyndham Rewards® points. While workers must have opted into the campaign before today to receive the points, those who have yet to do so can still claim their complimentary Gold membership, thanks to an extension of the campaign through December 31, 2020. The vast majority of the Company’s hotels remain open and are welcoming guests with flexible booking policies and enhanced health and safety protocols through Wyndham’s Count on UsSM initiative.
