Two Ramada by Wyndham hotels in Yeosu and Gumi marks first hotel in Asia to launch a rooftop zipline attraction and first hotel under a global chain to open in Gumi.
31 August 2020, South Korea - Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, the world’s largest hotel franchisor with 9,000 hotels across approximately 90 countries, and leading provider of hotel management services, has announced the expansion of its portfolio in South Korea with two new hotel openings in the cities of Yeosu and Gumi.
The two new openings will further establish the presence of Wyndham’s renowned Ramada by Wyndham brand in South Korea across capital and secondary cities.
The opening of a new Ramada Plaza by Wyndham hotel on Dolsan Island marks Asia’s first hotel to unveil a zipline attraction on its rooftop. The coastal city of Yeosu, is a popular destination for families and local travellers thanks to its water activities and historic landmarks.
In Gumi, a new Ramada by Wyndham hotel is scheduled to open in late September. When open, the hotel will become the first global hotel chain to open in Gumi, which is one of the country’s most prominent industrial cities, and home to the majestic Mount Geumosan and its spectacular hiking trails.

Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Dolsan Yeosu, opened in July 2020. The hotel is located on Dolsan Island overlooks Hallyeosudo and is the first hotel in Asia to offer a zip-line on the top of its building. Located on the hotel’s rooftop on the 24th floor rising 120m above the sea, guests can take the plunge and zip down the 1.2km wire for an exhilarating adventure and admire breath-taking views of the Yeosu Sea.
The 427-room hotel offers stunning views of Hallyeosudo and boasts an excellent array of facilities for travellers with three dining outlets, including a rooftop lounge serving international cuisine and an extensive selection of wines and spirits, a heated infinity pool boasting spectacular ocean view, as well as spacious banquet halls with state-of-the- art facilities for meetings and events. Around the hotel, guests can also discover many attractions such as the marine aquarium, sky tower, Expo Digital Gallery and Yeosu Expo Ocean Park.
Ramada by Wyndham becomes First Global Hotel Chain to Open in Gumi The new 213-room Ramada by Wyndham Gumi is centrally located in Gumi, South Korea’s largest inland industrial complex, and will become the first global hotel chain offering in the city when it opens in late September 2020. Situated close to corporate offices, the hotel is an ideal location for travellers on business, and will provide a range of comfortable accommodation including 36 spacious suites, and a business lounge. Three dining outlets include an the all-day dining restaurant with five private dining rooms serving both continental and local cuisine, a grab-and-go café, as well as a sky lounge bar offering scenic views. Ramada by Wyndham Gumi is conveniently located between Gumi Industrial Complex 2 and 3, 25 minutes from Gumi Station and 40 minutes from KTX Gimcheongumi Station.
